Based on the LabEx INRT project (Integrative biology: Nuclear dynamics, Regenerative and Translational medicine) selected in the context of the "Investments for the future" project call, the Institute will be able to continue its pursuit of excellence, notably by increasing its visibility and its attractiveness. The "Laboratory of excellence" label will allow the IGBMC to invest in the development of its campus, combining an exceptional scientific environment with a unique technology centre. These efforts will be accompanied by the construction of a new building in 2012, the "Centre for Integrative Biology"(CBI).
The mission of the European strategy forum for research infrastructures (ESFRI) is to identify and to support the new research infrastructures in Europe. The IGBMC has been selected to integrate two European infrastructure networks, INSTRUCT and INFRAFRONTIER, respectively for the Integrative Structural Biology program and the Mouse Clinical Institute (ICS), a leader in the field of mouse genetics.
The national Investments for the future program, "National infrastructures for research in biology and health" aims to provide France with several major nationwide infrastructures that will be very competitive internationally. Two projects proposed by the IGBMC were selected at the national level in support of the European infrastructure networks: FRISBI (French infrastructure for integrated structural biology) run by the Integrative Structural Biology program and PHENOMIN (National Infrastructure in mouse phenogenomics), led by the ICS.
The IGBMC will also benefit from the recent award of the "Initiative for Excellence" (IdEx) label for the University of Strasbourg project, which will significantly contribute to increasing the national and international visibility of research in Strasbourg.
